Why We Deserve Better Than Julie Weismann

ABSENTEE.png
A Leader Who’s Let Our Community Down...

Julie Weismann was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Lane Community College Board of Education—never elected by you. Yet when another at-large seat recently opened, she refused to act, leaving the Board deadlocked and unable to meet our college’s urgent needs. That’s not leadership. That’s turning your back on the very people who rely on LCC for a better future.

She Ignores Students, Faculty, and the Community...

By abstaining from appointing a qualified candidate, Ms. Weismann disregarded calls from faculty, staff, and community members to fill the vacancy promptly. We’ve watched frustration grow among educators trying to voice real concerns, only to be met with silence. If our Board fails to fill its seats, how can it effectively serve us?

Julie Weismann Lacks Responsibility & Results...

Weismann’s refusal to engage has blocked timely decisions on critical issues. This inaction contradicts the Board’s core duty: representing the entire community. When our leaders refuse to lead, the rest of us pay the price—students can’t access vital resources, faculty feel unsupported, and working families suffer.

A New Generation, A Fresh Voice.
I’m Devon Lawson—born in Oklahoma, raised on the McKenzie River. I’m running because we deserve better than empty seats and deadlock. I’ve testified on hundreds of education bills, co-written legislation, and served on LCC’s Bond Oversight Committee. I’ve seen firsthand how common-sense solutions can transform lives—when leaders are willing to listen.

Our Path Forward
Accountability: Fill board seats and make sure every voice is heard.
Transparency: End the culture of inaction; make decisions in the open.
Opportunity for All: Support students, faculty, and staff with practical steps that boost our middle class and uplift low-income families.

Help Us Renew Lane County’s Future.

We can’t afford more deadlock. Join me in moving beyond politics as usual to build a stronger, more inclusive Lane Community College. Our vision for moral renewal and honest leadership starts now—because Lane County deserves better.
